ALTO PROFESSIONAL BLACK SERIES SPEAKERS OFFER PREMIUM SOUND, AMPLE POWER, AND WIRELESS CONTROL

Live Drive wireless control app, DSP processing, custom-made components, superior construction, and massive power provide an in-demand feature set.

Cumberland, R.I. (April 10, 2013)—Alto Professional, the source for live performance reinforcement, has created the Black Series, a premium line of active 2-way loudspeakers and subwoofers. The onboard DSP provides extensive control both directly and via Alto Professional’s Live Drive wireless app for iOS® devices—coming soon to the App Store. The complete Black Series line includes the Black10, Black12, and Black15 active loudspeakers; plus the Black15S and Black18S active subwoofers.

The carefully matched components, abundant power, and onboard DSP allow the Black Series to be deployed in various configurations to provide immersive and rewarding sound in nearly any venue. Onboard DSP provides active control over the EQ response, test tones, dynamic levels, and protection to deliver a sound unattainable with traditional passive systems. The Live Drive wireless control app allows each system to be optimized in place and on the fly—from a variety of listening positions—to create the best possible sound reinforcement experience.

Each Black Series active loudspeaker was designed and tuned by the highly experienced Alto Professional audio team in the USA and field-tested in a variety of real-world applications. Custom-spec’d drivers and a 2400-Watt (peak) Class D amplifier combine to provide superior, reliable sound with plenty of headroom for an uncompromised performance. Black Series loudspeakers are available with a 10", 12," or 15" low-end driver, in the Black10, Black12, and Black15, respectively. Optimized to provide a 90º x 60º coverage field, each model also contains a 1.75" high-frequency driver and an extensively tested HF waveguide crafted to deliver maximum sonic impact.

“The value of the Black Series extends beyond the obvious factors of premium sound and tons of power,” says Paul Gallo, Alto Professional Product Manager. “The onboard DSP circuitry provides an unprecedented level of intelligence and control, allowing each Black Series loudspeaker to instantly adapt and deliver the finest performance in any situation.”

The reinforced cabinets are constructed from rugged 18mm plywood covered in a durable, scratch-resistant finish. The sturdy steel grilles are dressed with a commercial-grade powder coating. Recessed custom-molded handles make transport easy. Steel-reinforced rubber feet are located on two sides, allowing vertical or horizontal monitor-style placement. A standard 35mm socket is provided for pole mounting, and M10 rigging points are provided.

The Black Series’ internal electronics are equally impressive. The built-in mixer provides two mic/line combo inputs, volume controls, and a balanced XLR output. The mixer feeds a 2400-Watt (peak) / 1200-Watt (continuous) Class D amplifier equipped with active thermal protection and a ground lift switch. The contour switch delivers enhanced EQ control, plus there is even a switch to disable the LED-lit logo power indicator for more discreet applications..

Using the Live Drive wireless app from any iPad® or iPhone® delivers effortless remote control of level matching, test tones, tone shaping, dynamics, and time alignment. In addition to this high-level DSP control, the Live Drive app allows the Black Series system to be tweaked and adjusted in place for optimal sound at all times. Club owners, sound technicians, and engineers will be able to adapt the speakers to new acts and venues.

Alto Professional will be exhibiting at Hall 5.1, Booth B45 during the 2013 Musikmesse, April 10-13, in Frankfurt, Germany.
